The Palace of Pearls like the name rightly says is a beautifully decorated place that speaks volumes about the cuisine that is to be served at our table.Mughalai cuisine emerged in the Mughal empire and the first thing that strikes us about it is the beauty and richness of the food served. We all felt like a bunch of royals sitting down for an elaborate meal brought to us by numerous palace servants .We were seated across a huge table with a big bowl of salad staring right at us and it remained there untouched till we finished our meal. Starting with a not so traditional Ice tea, we had a whole range of starters coming in one after another. Each one wonderfully decorated and served in huge platters was a sight!!The succulent Paneer that melted in our mouths, the amazing Kebabs, the tandoori chicken and so so many more items on the menu and each one of it was worth waiting for. After being stuffed with starters and a neat glass of Lassi, we had a round of different kinds of rotis and there were some interesting choices. One of them was the Chilly Paratha (not chilly parotta). This one was roti with chilli powder sprinkled over the top and it was simply Yumm!! The gravies were also amazing.. we had veg and non-veg and they were both equally good. Then came the show stopper - The Biriyani. With tender meat and superbly spiced biriyani rice, it was heaven!! To end our meal, we had the awesome Paan ice cream and Kulfi and they were both delicious. It was the prefect ending to a Royal meal as I like to call it!!! Moti Mahal stands tall with the tag "Authentic Dining Experience" and without a doubt, that's exactly what you'll feel after your meal here.

Here I am writing about outlets at Vijaya Forum mall... 1st was Sbarro and then came Sammy Sosa, and then we attacked Moti Mahal Delux. I have eaten at the outlet in Nungambakkam and so was familiar with their menu and food. Therefore it came as no surprise that the food here was excellent as well. The first plate that landed on the table was... yes, you guessed it right- Achari Paneer, and it melted in our mouths. Their paneer is exquisite, like no other I have ever had. This one was a tad spicy and so I had to request for some water. The non veggies got the Tandoori Chicken which they dug into. before we were done with these, the main dishes arrived. The tray was overflowing with plates. It had a plate with Naan/Lachcha parantha and 2 side dishes- one was Butter Chicken and other was Paneer Tikka Masala. As always, the naan being hot was easy to tear and eat, otherwise it does get a bit chewy. The gravy was good, not too rich not too oily. Oh and how can we leave without trying their infamous desserts. The minute I mentioned Paan ice cream wee saw 4 cups of ice cream float onto the table. I requested for Kulfi since I dont like Paan ice cream and voila, there was a plate with a kulfi cut into neat pieces. The food here speaks for itself and needs no jazz.. I just pray they maintain the quality and keep serving up such yummy treats. Woah, we were stuffed. But there was just one more item waiting....

This was my 2nd or 3rd visit to the restaurant and I have always enjoyed the experience. As you walk/drive down the road next to Signoraa on Nungambakkam high Road, you will find Moti Mahal Delux on your left. I vaguely recall there being a furniture store on the ground, but now Sam's pizza is located there. Anyways, you take the staircase beside the restaurant to reach Moti Mahal. For those who are lazy or old or cant climb stairs, there is an elevator as well :D As you walk in, the dark wood interiors greet you, showing off the large seating area and the private dining area on the extreme left. There is the kitchen at the end of the hall, and seating area has been divided into sections. There are eclectic art work on the walls, which Maaria mentioned were done by a lady she knows- they were traditional paintings overlapped with digital imaging. We settled in the private area as we were 10+ in number and my eyes went straight to the water canister on the table. It was purple and very Mediterranean. I had seen it in several stores, but not bought one. Anyways, chit chat around the table brought me back to reality. We were served lemon iced tea to start off the evening and a huge bowl of salad was placed in the center of the table. The iced tea was passe, I went ahead and ordered my saviour drink- Fresh lime soda salt, while many others followed suit with their drink orders. read more -- http://aromasofkitchens.blogspot.in/2013/07/moti-mahal-delux-chennai.html

Friday lunch at Moti Mahal Delux, I have been planning to visit this place for a while now. Had fixed two lunch dates with my girlfriends, but for some reason did not work out. Got lucky the 3rd time with my family and decided to take them for the Royal Smart lunch. For Rs. 250 i should say its a steal. Started off with some pickled onions, awesome chutney and roasted papad. Next came in the starters the chicken kebab, soft and succulent. The set menu consisted of a tangy salad, dal makhani, butter chicken masala (the best that i have tasted in chennai) Roti or naan and ghee rice. The dessert was either ice cream or gulab jamun. Its a must try. Grab the deal.

By the time the kids had finished their sunday school exams and I had finished the baking for the day, it was 1.30pm and we headed for the nearest place for food, the resto's in Aruna. But to our disappointment, every single joint was jam packed right from sigree to mainlad china and fusion 9. By this time we had already wasted 45 mins. While waiting for the valet to bring the car, we decided on Moti Mahal Delux Chennai as the next stop and called up Just Dial for the number. We got a call back from Moti Mahal immediately and while booking the table, we also ordered our starter so that it would be ready by the time we reach. We were welcomed warmly and by the time we had settled down, our starter was served. Needless to say, all for of us were so ravenous that we just started tucking in! The tandoori chicken was to die for. My husband who is a great fan of mughalai food, gives it a 10 on 10 :) And when the waiter came to take our order for the main course, we threw caution to wind and just started ordering away. Luckily for us, the person who was taking our order was more sensible than us and suggested cutting down on the number of breads and ordering later on according to need! So our final order was thus, paneer kulcha, veg potato kulcha, 2 butter rotis, nan, butter chicken and kadai mutton. And boy, were we in for a surprise and a great one at that. Though we have dined here 2-3 times, we had never ordered butter chicken though they proudly proclaim they are the inventors of this dish. And rightly so, if you ask me. The butter chicken was unlike any that I have had till date...even the kids made a beeline for this curry. The kadai mutton was superb too with all those lovely flavours. Now on to the kulchas :) Both the paneer and the potato kulchas were yummo!!! The kids ate a nan between themselves which is a feat in itself since the pieces were big and both are picky eaters. As for what the hubby had to say, "awesome and then some more". The ambience is nice and you can see the chefs working the tandoor through the partially open kitchen. My only grouse if at all any is about the volume of the background music. The service was top notch and am grateful to the person who waited on us since we still had some food left. Total bill came to 1378 (vat and service charge included) which is a steal if you ask me!
